IN-HOME MEAL PREP
Why choose Sage Home Chef?
On average, Americans eat between 4-5 meals out every week. The vast majority of this food is inflammatory - causing everything from fatigue and depression, to chronic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This will eventually cost you in medical bills and quality of life. By using our meal service, you are investing in your health while having more time to do the things that are important to you.
Do I have to sign a contract?
There are no contracts here at Sage Home Chef. You can start your service and end your service whenever you please. We make our schedule at the beginning of the month and ask you which days you would like to reserve. We ask for at least a weeks notice if you need to cancel.
How do you charge?
We charge hourly based on menu planning, grocery shopping, traveling to your home, cooking, and cleaning. Grocery cost is a direct reimbursement for each service. We understand that staying within your budget is important, we can work with you to create an affordable plan.
How do I choose which meals you make?
Your chef will create a fully personalized menu for you considering your taste profile, any allergies or intolerances, and cuisine preferences. The Friday before your scheduled cook date, your chef will email you a menu with extra options for you to choose from. Say, if you want 4 dinners, your chef will send you 5 items and you will be able to choose your favorites. Let your chef know by Sunday at 5pm before your scheduled cook date what your choices are and if you would like any adjustments made to your order.
Can you accommodate multiple allergies and intolerances?
Sure thing! If you’re a family that has multiple preferences/allergies/intolerances we will prepare a menu that satisfies everyone.
How do I reheat my prepared dinner?
We will leave a Reheat Instruction card with your order.
Each one of our meals will vary in the best way to reheat it. Soups and stews may be best to reheat in a pot on the stovetop on medium heat. Warm meals are best reheated in the oven at 350F for 15 or so minutes. For anything that you want to crisp up, say roasted plantains, reheat at 450F until crispy. If you have any questions about how to reheat a meal, please don’t hesitate to contact your chef!
Why do we prefer organic?
Organic food has been grown and/or processed without the use of synthetic pesticides, chemical additives or solvents, and is never genetically modified. Pesticides, solvents, and chemical additives are toxic to the body. The body treats toxins as predators and sends the immune system out for battle, catalyzing an inflammatory cascade. Eat non-organic food everyday? This will cause chronic inflammation. Inflammation is the precursor to a myriad of common disease processes and constantly exposing your body to these chemicals can do serious long-term damage. In the same way these chemicals are toxic for our bodies they are also toxic for our planet. Taking care of our bodies means taking care of our planet too! In the end, whether we purchase organic remains up to you.
Why pasture raised eggs?
Purchasing eggs can be confusing. The reality is that chickens, and thus their eggs, are their healthiest and happiest when they have access to the outdoors, sunlight, insects, and grass (sort of like us). This is why we don’t purchase cage-free, free range, or organic eggs, but pasture-raised eggs. Free-range and cage-free are “fluff words” that mean relatively nothing in the agricultural world. Organic in this case simply means that the hens are eating organic feed rather than what they should be eating; insects and critters.
Do I have to be home while you cook?
Nope! As long as you give us a way to enter and exit your home safely, you don’t need to be home while we cook.
